The digital implant workflow: scans, planning and printed guides

Planning the teeth first, then the implants

A digital workflow combines a 3D x-ray (CBCT), a digital scan of your teeth and planning software. The team plans where the final teeth should be, then positions the implants to support them.

In short
  • CBCT shows bone height, width and nerves in 3D.
  • An intraoral scan replaces most traditional impressions.
  • Planning software (for example DTX Studio™ software) links the two; a surgical guide can transfer the plan to surgery.

The steps

  1. 3D x-ray (CBCT) of the jaw.
  2. Digital scan of teeth and gums.
  3. Virtual planning of teeth and implant positions.
  4. Optional printed surgical guide (NobelGuide® concept).
  5. Surgery, then digitally designed crowns or bridge (NobelProcera®).
